Some important auto modifications for drifting
There are a whole lot of people who think they have what it takes to drift. And even though there are tons of different outlets for drifting, there is one thing which always stays the same, if you want to drift well, modifications are very important for your car. A car without modifications may be able to drift as well, but don’t expect it to do too much in a competition. It will eventually require modifications no matter how good the driver behind the wheel is.
You can work on modifying a number of things in a car like the suspension, exterior, interior, and steering. Here, we are only going to be looking at the drive train and tires:
Drive train certainly is the most important modification for you to consider. If you want to drift properly, you will need to get a limited slip differential. Even though some may come with this, most don’t. The clutch type is the most popular one out there which allows for lock-up activity during acceleration and deceleration. A couple of other differentials are the spool and welded differentials. One thing to remember is, no matter what you do, don’t mess with the differential.
When it comes to tires, you probably already know how important they are when it comes to grip, and maintaining control and speed on turns. Fortunately, the higher your budget, the better the tires you can get for your car. You can even get tires that are custom built for drifting with various different colours being released when you drift as well as scented smoke. But, the only thing you should really concern yourself with is whether your tires have sufficient tread. If you’re one of those people who would prefer cheaper tires, don’t blame them when you’re planted on a wall.
