What tires should you use to drift

Tires are a very important part of a drift car. In fact, when you’re on the drift track, tires can make all the difference. Not every tire will work when you’re on the drift track, though.

First of all, it’s important that you get drifting tires which fit the car that you are driving. Speed is an important factor here which can help you get the adequate amount of braking force. But, if you are moving at high speed, you will need to have the right size tire.

What’s most important is that you get the right tires for the rear. You will need something with a low profile and a small sidewall. They should also be wide enough to cover the maximum surface area while having a shallow tread so that there is minimum friction. This makes it easier to drift.

As for the front tires, you will need to get deep treads since there should be something which grips on to the tar while you are drifting. You will see that when you pull the handbrake, the rear wheels will start slipping while the front wheels won’t. If they didn’t have deep treads, your car would most probably flip.

Bias-ply tires are very important when it comes to drifting. The layered rubber can also strengthen the way your car handles and takes the form of various pot holes and bumps which make your drive safer. You will find these at most tire importers.

If a drifting car is using radial tires, it could cause sidewalls to bend. This can be really dangerous for the racer. So make sure you get the right tires or you may end up paying in more ways than one.
